About BOU HSC Program
Registration in the HSC program lasts for either 2 years or up to 5 years for examinations. That is, it cannot be completed before two years after registration in terms of batch and session; Again, there is no opportunity to participate in the examination after passing five final examinations. Registration requires selecting compulsory and optional courses according to the prescribed cluster. Once the final examination of a course has been passed, there will be no opportunity to retake the examination in that course. A student who fails or fails to appear in the final examination of a particular year can re-appear in any examination held during the registration period subject to payment of fees for the prescribed courses.
After successful completion of all courses a student will be eligible for HSC certificate. Keep in mind that there won’t be any chance to revisit optional courses after completing other courses. The final result will not be affected if a student does not take an optional course, does not take the exam or fails the exam of this course. The student has to attend the examination at the Baubi designated examination center. Before the examination, students will know the name-address of their examination center and necessary instructions from their respective study centers.
Offered Courses
In order to admit in the HSC program, a student must take six courses in their first year and five courses in their second year. Take a total of 11 courses including three in the first year and two in the second year from compulsory and optional subjects including six courses in some three subjects. However, if a student interested, they can take one of the subjects as an optional (additional or fourth) subject.
A student can take the examination in the first year in a total of seven subjects including three as compulsory subjects and three as optional subjects and one as an optional subject (if any). In the second year, all the subjects taken in the first year should be included in the second paper (except for Information and Communication Technology). Attending or passing the minimum number of courses in the first year is not a requirement for registration in the second year.
Note: Once the subject is selected and the registration process completed, it cannot be changed. A student will get HSC certificate only if he passes in eleven courses (failure in optional subject will not cause any problem in final result). A student can complete the HSC program in two years to a maximum of five years, according to his time and merit and receive the certificate.
Admission Rules for the HSC Program
In case of admission, applicant’s name, father’s and mother’s name and date of birth must same as per SSC or honors certificate. In the event that the admission information provided in the application form is deemed false, it will be cancelled at any time.
Eligibility for BOU HSC Admission 2024-2025
Any student who has passed SSC or equivalent examination can apply for admission. There will be no limitations on age or educational gap in this situation.
Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has streamlined the process of admitting students to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with the introduction of an online application system. This online application method aims to enhance accessibility, convenience, and efficiency for prospective students.
Admission and Others Fees
- Online application fee – 100 Taka.
- Registration Fee – 150 Taka.
- Course Fee (BDT 588 Taka per course) – 3,528 Taka.
- Information and Communication Technology (Mandatory) practical fee – 125 Taka.
- Academic Calendar Fees – 50 Taka.
- Digital/Plastic ID Card Fee – 200 Taka.
- Examination Fee (BDT 50 Taka per course, 6 courses) – 300 Taka.
- First year mark sheet fee – 70 Taka.
Additional course and examination fees of BDT 638 (Taka) for optional subjects and additional BDT 125 (Taka) will charge for practical courses. Third gender students will get a 60% discount on course fees.
In addition, they added a special note that admission applicants must have their name, parents’ name, and birth date identical to their SSC/Equivalent certificates.
BOU XI Online Application System
Applicants who interested in enrolling in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) program organized by Open School of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) must apply online. Follow this step-by-step guide to navigate the BOU HSC admission online application.
- Enter https://osapsnew.bou.ac.bd into any browser’s address bar to browse.
- Click on Open School under Offered Programs and carefully read the admission instructions (learner’s guide and View details) displayed next to the HSC program and click on the Apply Now button.
- After filling out the General Information step correctly, click the Next button.
- Once the Personal Information step completed correctly, upload a recent photograph (300×300 pixel, JPG Format) and scanned signature (300×100 pixel, JPG Format) and click on the Next button. Photo and Signature must be size of 100 KB and
- After completing the Academic Qualification step without errors, click on the Finish button to view the courses, then complete them appropriately and click on the Next button.
- When the form filled out correctly, the student will receive a Temporary User ID and Password via SMS and email.
Payment Procedure
After clicking the Proceed to Payment button, the fee should submit through any of the displayed online payment gateways or systems. “Payment has been completed successfully!” The message will display and the student will notify through SMS and email.
After completing the online admission application, the student should login to OSAPS using the Temporary User ID and Password and click on the Print Profile button to print the displayed application form and the Payment Slip by clicking on the Print option of the Action menu from the Payment History.
Necessary Documents for BOU HSC Admission 2024-2025
- Two (2) copies of passport size photograph. Place the image on the left side of the application form that has already printed. The Study Center Coordinator is responsible for attesting the above photograph and some parts of the form.
- Attested copy of original certificate of SSC or equivalent. In the absence of the original certificate, a temporary certificate or an attested copy of the mark sheet must be submitted.
- Attested copy of national identity card or birth registration certificate.
Collection of Textbooks and Guidelines for Students
The student will collect the student guide from BOU website. After applying online, the student has to submit one copy of the required documents to the respective Study Center and complete the following tasks.
- Collecting a student ID card is mandatory.
- In order to collect free books or download them from the website, you need to show your ID card.

Students will either receive study material from BOU’s Study Center or through a designated method. To get the textbooks, the student must present their ID card. There is no payment while taking the course material (Textbook).
Noted that the University does not accept any fees (such as pre-examination fees) that exceed the specified amounts. There is no rule to exchange cash with any person without specific procedures. Number of Tutorial Classes
Tutorial classes will held by the study centers in accordance with the instructions sent by BOU’s Open School. There will 20 tutorial classes conducted, with the option to hold an extra 10 if it is feasible. On Fridays, classes typically held. The class starts schedule should check from the website of the respective Study Center/BOU.
